Today was the annual celebration of Earth Day here in Fort Mill. We have a Greenway that serves as a nature preserve of sorts and they open it up to the public and bring in all sorts of bands and animals and expositions. We arrived at 10 AM and watched an authentic dance performed by the Catawba Indians. From there we migrated over to the horse area to let the kids take a ride. It is a short ride, but they love it. After a quick stop at the face painting table, we hiked a mile down do the petting zoo to see goats, chickens, and milk a cow. The kids saw many of their friends from school and the adults saw friends and acquaintances of their own. After trekking back a mile to the car we were too pooped to pop so we went home.
The Easter Bunny brought the kids a kite for Easter. So far, Dad has taken both the boys out to fly it, but not Reagan (she had friends over at the time and couldn't leave). Therefore, today was her turn so we grabbed the butterfly kite and headed out to the park. It took us twenty minutes to get it above thirty feet off the ground where the wind was, but after that she took over the controls and had all 300 feet out. We put a couple other father and son combos to shame as they couldn't get their kite to stay airborne and if they did it wasn't more than 50 feet off the ground. Of course, after twenty minutes the fun was over and Reagan wanted to head back home so that was that.
Mom and Dad planted some new flowers out by the mailbox and then Dad mowed the front yard. We planted our new tomato plants out on the back deck in pots and now I have to bring them in as we are having a freeze warning tonight. It is always something. We'll see how tomorrow goes!
