May Greetings

Once again it has been a while between posts on this blog. What can I say except we are busy! There should be plenty to talk about so let's get started. Alex is finishing up his school year and then flying down to Florida on May 15 to spend the next three weeks in sunny Jupiter. He has a good time down there and should enjoy himself. A change of scenery is never bad I suppose. He has had a rerun of nosebleed episodes that occurred last year. Sort of a mystery as to why his nose is fine for a year and then all of a sudden it starts bleeding for seemingly no reason. This round of nosebleeds went on for a week and culminated in a two-hour event last Saturday night where both nostrils were flowing. Took him to the pediatrician who recommended we go see the ENT to get this resolved before he flew down. Good news is the busted capillaries are right at the tip of his nose and not further up towards the sinuses. Doc said to start putting a tiny amount of Vaseline and/or Neosporin inside his nostrils and spraying saline solution up his nose three or four times day to keep it moist so it heals. He said the next time it starts bleeding (hopefully it won't) to spray Afrin up his nose since it constricts blood vessels and should help stop the bleeding quicker. The doc had talked about cauterizing his nose with some chemical stuff but said it wasn't necessary in this case, which is fine with us because he said it burns and would not be pleasant inside a nose. Anyway, he will come back home early August and get geared up for high school.

Reagan has joined a local swim team and they are training for the upcoming season. I think the swim meets start in June and end in June so it is a nice compact season. Their coach has them running after swim practice so the girls are tuckered out. Reagan likes it and it should be fun. Carrie was on a swim team when she was younger but I personally have never been so it should be exciting. I guess a bullhorn will need to be purchased so I can scream and yell and act obnoxious. Honey, the hamster, is still with us. We clipped her snaggletooth last night with toe nail clippers so that keep her alive another month at least. If it gets too long then it rams into the roof of her mouth and could cause a fatal infection.

Blake is enjoying baseball. It isn't competitive as they don't keep score and nobody is "out." They let them run the bases and everyone scores. Blake always bats last as he is #10 (they go numerically) and since he is last they just let him circle the bases no matter where he hits it. So, every time he hits he gets to haul butt and try to pass his own people on base and then he makes a grand slide into home. The added excitement is that the kids on the other team are getting in his way and trying to push him (not being mean but just being kids) as he is trying to run the bases so he is dodging them and trying to touch all the bases.

Rion has turned into a monster at times now. He screams at the top of his lungs and throws things at us whenever he gets mad. He flings his juice cup and food when he finishes eating. He loves to head butt so I have to be careful when I come home and he runs at me to say hello. He doesn't slow down and just plows forehead first right into my crotch. The natural thing to do is to move out of the way, but then he would keep going and hit the door. He's a nutbag, but very entertaining.

Carrie is still pregnant and I am still gainfully employed so things are looking up. Hopefully, we can keep this blog updated more frequently.........
